W126 Front door interchangeability?

Besides the lower trim difference are the Gen I & Gen II front doors interchangeable? And either way to the above question, given the same Gen, do the front doors from an SEL interchange with those from an SE (& SD)? Thank you!

Most everything bolts up , but the inside sheet metal is different, speaker holes wrong, main stuff like latches door handles etc work, a couple holes for door cards dont line up, recommend exact year swap.

Before I start buying stuff can anybody assure me that the door from an SEL is interchangeable with and SE/SD??? Nulu you didn't really say that about the door it self, sounded like you were talking about parts, like window motors and cranks and such?

Even if you are asking about a gasser, you'd probably have much more luck in Diesel Discussion... there are plenty of us W126 guys there.

I think the differences between the doors will matter more based on the year than the model of the car, specifically between Gen I and Gen II W126's....they made some changes in the later cars.

Yes i changed a door for my buddys car, his daughty caught her purse on shifter , car went into neutral , and rolled backwards into a wall . bending the door , i would recomend same year door that you want to change, there
are a lot of small differences in inner sheet metal and outer panel mounts

I don't know how reliable the W126 section of the Russian EPC is but I've had no trouble with the numbers they list for W201 or W123 models.

This can be accessed via EverythingBenz - Mercedes-Benz Forum and Web Search Using Google

Front door information =>

Here's a 420SEL

Êàòàëîã MERCEDES

A 1st gen W126 300SD

http://mb.ilcats.ru/part/class/1/ccode/F/cat/68P/type/126/subtype/120/group/72

A 2nd gen W126 300SDL

Êàòàëîã MERCEDES

A 2nd gen 500SEL

http://mb.ilcats.ru/part/class/1/ccode/F/cat/68P/type/126/subtype/037/group/72

...

All have item 5 front door shell left hand side same part number 126 720 41 05

If you want a moderator to move a thread you need to send them a PM asking them to do this - they don't necessarily trawl through all of the threads looking for damsels in distress!
