aluminum m6 bolt
Can you buy these locally anywhere i snapped one off putting the front timging chain cover on my c230? Also does anyone know the proper torque for this size bolt?

Are you sure it is made from aluminum? Does a magnet stick? Al bolts are not very common no matter the application.
A M6 bolt is very common, should be an auto parts item, just be sure to match the thread pitch. I don't have a torque chart handy, just past screwdriver tight should be enough. |

What is "local" for you? Here there is a place called Austin Nut and Bolt. If they don't have it, out of luck and time to go online.

geob, recommend buying a replacement bolt at your local MB dealer. A Service Department rep should be able to provide you with the specified torque value for the timing chain cover bolts. If you over-tightened that bolt I would have expected the threads in the block to strip before the bolt failed. You are a lucky guy!
