The millennium falcon Lives!

I dropped my 95 wagon off to have the tranny rebuilt in January, right before the merc rebuilder went on a missions trip. Well, I just got it back. I've been driving my suburban. Sweet mother of God its good to have her back. I've renamed her the millennium falcon. "She may not look like much but she's got it where it counts"
-Han Solo

When I got it back it felt weak. I had to put the throttle and Bowden cables back to factory, once I did that, it acted like a race car again.

Little stumble at cold idle but other than that she's back to normal. Hopefully that will either clear up with consistent usage or I'll go through the ovp, wire harness, spark plug, intake, fuel filter ect.

Happy happy happy.

Thayer

I'm good! Back to over repairing the car again, I have a list of things I wanna do to her so hopefully I'll get fully back in the forum groove again.

Mono wiper needs grease (that will make it park at 3 o'clock again I hope)
Aux fan needs verification of correct temp activation
Pull a part hood needs painting and installation(hit a deer, bent everything back into shape for now, seems like everyone wrecks there 124 gasser wagon)
Sound coming from steering when slow sharp turning in parking lot
Center vent wheel sinks in(gonna replace the whole vent assembly from the junker I got from vs techs lot)
Replace motor for drivers seat front adjustment(or just swap the seat again, I have 3 I think)

I'm sure there's more

Sounds like a list! I have my own .

It's good to see you back. Stretch has been getting, like, TOTALLY out of control since you left. Good luck with him.

Assuming you're not talking about the PS pump groaning or something similar to that, noises emanating from the wheel area under slow sharp turning conditions very often is an indicator of ball joint failure, sometimes imminent failure. Virtually every 124 ball joint failure I've ever witnessed or heard of has occurred under those conditions, something about the forces being applied under those conditions is just enough to break the ball joint stud off the ball or to separate the ball from it's socket. Usually the wheel carrier separates from the LCA and the wheel kicks out usually catching on and bending the lip of the fender.

1995 probably means replacing the entire LCA because its ball joint is not replaceable as a separate part.

Funny!...I named my '91 124 Das Beet (cause it's a Beet color) and my 95 124 Battlestar Gallactica! Both are wagons approaching the 250,000 mile mark.

Just to rule this out or in.......on both my 83 300SD and my 99 E300TD, this type of sound on low speed turning as you're describing, resulted in the groaning sounds from worn engine mount(s).

For future reference:
The groaning transference of metal coming close to a metal on metal sound at the lower gears upshifting on my 06 E320 CDI, was the evidentiary symptom exhibited when my CDI needed new engine mounts. -Which I changed out last weekend.
