1990 300E a/c keeps blowing fuse #7?
I keep blowing #7 (controls a/c, climate control, back-up lights, etc.)
My a/c has always blown very cold if I wanted it to and has never let me down until now. Via a process of elimination, if I keep the a/c clutch plug disconnected, my climate control blower works and I don't blow the fuse. What is happening with the clutch? Can "just the clutch" be replaced while keeping the compressor connected, like I've done with my Jeep and Chrylser cars? Thanks.

a/c working again! MAS isssue?
Didn't get any input, but I want to let readers know that I got the a/c running again without blowing #7 again. Unfortunately, I can't exactly pinpoint what when wrong or exactly how I fixed it.
What I did this evening is: Re-connected the plug, after replacing the plug head itself that had broken while I was pulling it off, started the car with the a/c in the off position. The blower operated properly and didn't blow the fuse. Turning on the a/c didn't engage the clutch, however. I turner the car off, swapped in another MAS, re-started the car, blower worked, turned the a/c on at low speed, A/C clutch engaged, and got cold air again! So there it is. I hope it works tomorrow... am carrying a spare MAS just in case!

Update: Problem discovered and solved
This is described in more detail in a more recent post. The problem turned out to be an exposed 12v wire the runs from the clutch magnet to the plug pin. Because it is routed underneath the plug holder bracket, it is impossible to see without taking the bracket off.
Keep this in mind when your 200K+ a/c starts to give you a problem.
