91 420 sel intermittent hesitation fuel filter clogged sensation

car will run fine then act as though its got a clogged fuel filter, hesitating and not willing to go over 30 mph.it does not die.if i shut it off it will run fine again. i changed filter,no change.its has also begun to be diffiucltt to start,as though the accumulator is bad.im thinking maybe fuel pumps.car has 115k .


any ideas

Monitor the fuel pressure while driving. Rig up a fuel pressure gauge so you can see it while driving. Perhaps hood partly open. Whatever works to see what is going on!

You can get a fuel pressure test kit with the proper size fitting for a Bosch KE Jetronic fuel distributor at Harbor Freight.

im suspecting fuel tank filter and will remove and inspect,all the symptoms fit,car had sat for a time in the past,hopefully tank has no rust.
