Unhappy '98 C280 Sat Up Too Long - gas problems

Guys, long time no see.

My old 98 C280 has sat up for a LONG time. I am trying to get it started again. New battery, new fuel pump, fresh gas and fuel filter installed. On the fuel rail while trying to start, gas is only trickling out. Supposed to be about 58 PSI? Gas smells like varnish, as usual. I just need to get it running so a buddy can drive it to his house to finish all the work.

Any quick tips to just get it running?

Curt

Disconnect the fuel line, place it in a bucket, jumper the pump relay. You might get things moving if the pump isn't pushing against something. ( Be mindful of sparks igniting the fuel. )

Also, the strainer in the tank might be clogged.

Thanks so much!

I opened the fuel line from the pump in the engine compartment and pumped out some of the old gas and sludge into a container. I opened up the fuel pressure connection and pumped out some more into the container. After that, it started!

Now to put some good grade gas in it and give it a drive.

Thanks so much!

Curt
