M103 722.4 - gears are hanging off
Hello everybody,
I've got a serious problem with my Mercedes. For example when I'm taking off from traffic lights, softly/normal starting and the car's hanging off on gear, pulling up to ~4000rpm and hardly turns with kick up the next gear (3). The same is for changing 3-4 by it happens at ~5000rpm. It's very incomprehensible because for most of time the gearshifts are soft and proper. It happens in random moments, both on cold or hot engine. The solution for this situation is (usually bot not always) pressing kickdown switch and then proceeds "unhanging". ATF level is OK also it was lastly changed but it didn't help. The second trouble is fact reverse gear doesn't work on cold engine but when heats up, reverse works very good. I've never encountered for description this kind of problem, cause other people write reverse work on cold but not on hot. Please help |

Kickdown switch under the pedal or solenoid on transmission is broken

The first thing to check is the control pressure cable from the throttle. It should be adjusted to just have no slack.
Next verify the vacuum modulator is good and there are no vacuum leaks.

But if any of them would be broken it was running properly each time when I'm pressing it?

Problem was solved - the mechanic replaced kickdown selenoid and valve body.
