Shift knob W126 300SE
I like to replace the worn out leather shift know with one made out of wood. There a plenty of options on eBay. I'm told there is a difference between the shift knobs for the V8 and M103 equipped models, if true, how to tell witch is the right one for my 300SE?

I decided to upgrade the leather knob in my 300E with a knob from a W126 I bought off eBay. I didn't know there was any difference but when the knob arrived I found the angle of the bend in the lever was just slightly off. I "adjusted" it put putting it in a vise and bending it carefully while eyeballing it. It fits fine now. If you're super-anal, you might notice that the lever doesn't line up exactly with the D when it's in drive, but the knob looks 1000% better than the worn leather knob. I suppose it should be possible to switch the knob itself onto the original lever, but I haven't been bothered enough by it to try.
