I have had two M112's (still have one) and my dad and brother have them also. Been running them all either on Liquimoly Supertech 5w40, or Mobil 1 0w40.

I have found the engine seems to run and idle quieter on the Liquimoly oil vs the Mobil 1....I've noticed this among several engines, including my M116 and OM601

The M112 is a very robust engine, arguably one of MB's best ever.

We use the same oil in my dad's SL which is a M113 (just a larger M112)

Fun fact: m112 and m113 don't have an oil pressure gauge or even a low oil pressure warning light. There's a oil pressure port built into the filter housing that blaked off with a screw. If the O ring on the oil pickup tube fails (and it does fail) you have no way of knowing.

I've never seen or heard of one failing from oil pressure loss....in fact other than basic stuff like cleaning the MAF, replacing spark plugs and replacing belt/pulleys etc, I've never encountered ANY failure on an M112 Even on ones with over 200k on them...

Mine has 156k on it and I still regularly drive it flat out to 6k rpm between shifts, it doesn't care.

Those were all supercharged AMG M113's.

The engine in the 3rd video wasn't supercharged and what difference does that make? These are all the same modular engine with the same design flaw. If it had an oil pressure gauge or even just an idiot light you could stop before doing any real damage. The problem isn't that the O ring might fail, it's that the driver has no way of knowing. At 159k miles my C320 is getting an oil pressure gauge.

True.....I'm going to suggest to my dad that we add one to his SL500....if he keeps it, thanks to the key debacle currently going on!
