Removing interior temp sensor w124
Hey guys, I installed a new radio in my 89 260e, it has hands free calling, and I wanted to put the microphone hidden but also in a usable spot.
On the dome light there is a little grill that I thought would be perfect, but upon inspection I found it has a sensor, doing some digging around I found that it is for the climate control. Out of curiosity what would be the result if I removed this sensor? ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you delete that sensor, forget about your climate control working properly. That's what senses the temperature in the cabin and tells the climate control unit what to put out from the vents. Mount your microphone somewhere else, if you're careful, you can probably hide it where the a-pillar trim meets the headliner.

I am already having an issue with the climate control, when the ac is on, the heat is also on. I was gonna check the mono valve because I heard that could be a cause. Could this sensor be an issue?

OK if you have no air con . And it will be a good spot for it

Does the A/C actually work in the car? If it does and the return line to the compressor is getting cold, the monovalve is a very likely culprit.
The sensor in the dome light is what sets the mode of the HVAC system to control the vent temperature. Think of it like the sensor for the thermostat on a central AC unit. There is a suction fan or venturi somewhere in the dash that has a tube that runs up to the backside of that sensor and gets air pulled across it all the time. Depending on on where you have the temperature wheel set, various functions of the HVAC system change in response to whether the cabin temp is above or below where you have the wheel set. If you delete or block that sensor, don't expect your HVAC to work.
