722.4 190e: No Upshift, Governor Gear

So got the dreaded no upshift condition and really want to try and repair vs spending $$$$ on rebuild. Replacing the gears seems pretty straight forward but I keep running into the issue of the check valve spring that gets sent into the secondary pump. I'm not sure where this comes from, not convinced thats my issue, but need to know what to replace once I get in there if it is. All of the threads I've seen are 10+ years old. Can anyone shed some light on this one?

why not try the simplest solution first? Do and transmission fluid change and see if that helps.
