M102 190E Fuel Distributor help...

I'm back. Acquired a 190E that has sat for more than 3 years. I cleaned out the fuel tank and fuel lines, as well as the fuel pump. I have checked fuel pump output and it "seems: ok, around 1L/40sec output.

I managed to briefly start the car... but idled roughly then died.

So i went to check on the injectors by placing them in individual bottles while running the pump directly. Key off.

Running the pump fuel immediately sprays through the injectors... is this normal? I was under the impression that no fuel was supposed to spray out unless the airflap was pressed in...

And another thing... injectors 3 and 4 sprays about half the rate of injectors 1 and 2. So I switched the injectors around... same result, either the steel lines are kinked... or there's something wrong with the distributor internally.

Can someone confirm if fuel is supposed to spray out immediately through the injectors once the fuel pump is activated?

UPDATE: I removed the fuel distributor and realized the flapper was adjusted waaaaay to rich. It was pushing up on the distributor plunger by default. Adjusted it everything is ok now. 1.9mm of play before it touches the plunger.
Still have to check a bunch of other electrical stuff...
QUESTION: I'd like to make it idle at the very least... can I do this without any of the electronics connected/active? I can run the fuel pump no problem... I've tested the CSV and it's dead apparently... no signal from the wire... AND applying power directly to the CSV is not actuating it.

what year? different years have different excuses to run the cold start valve.

yes, it should start and run w/o electronics, so long as control and line pressure is ok, cold, during warmup and fully warm. good luck, chuck.

It's an 85 according to the VIN.
I've never tried it yet, but just like fully analog carbed cars... is the coil supplied by the ignition key and not the ECU? Will be attempting to run the car again after I do an oil change.
I'm pretty sure my oil is soaked in gasoline at the moment.

My FD is fine now mechanically. It injects equal amounts now, fires right up when primed manually. Idles but fluctuates due to disconnected electronics. Still have to sort those out. EHA disconnected.

Nice work.

Maybe the CSV is plugged up with gunk too.

Its really going to be hard to tune in the KE Jetronic without the right tools. You need a fuel pressure gauge , Multimeter and something to check for vacuum leaks.

Does your model have a O2 sensor?
