In the process of putting an AMG Hammer wagon back together, and have just put the engine and tranny back in the car. Can't figure out where to draw air from the front of the car.
The air filter housing has the two intakes on either side as on the M117 in the 560. The 560 differs in that one side has a larger intake than the other. (The Euro version may have been different). The 6.0 117 in the Hammer has two equal size intakes. In looking at pictures of my car in 1990 and the other Hammer engine bays, the intakes have flexible tubing like the 560 that drops down behind the grill area. In the 560's I've seen (and the 420's) the tubing pulls air from between the headlight and radiator.
Problem is the W124 body is narrower than the 126 and the radiator takes the full space between the lights. I can't figure out where the flexible tubing went in the Hammer engine bay. There is no room to snake down into the airdam, and this would also create a danger of standing water making its' way into the air intake.
I would very much prefer not to draw air from inside the engine bay, and I don't want NASCAR ducts in my hood

. Has anyone seen a Hammer to know where this tubing went, or can recommend a source for this information?
Thanks!
