Empty Fluid Bottle....

I have a 92 500SL. Under the bonnet on the left hand side (facing the car), next to the washer bottle is a fluid bottle. Could someone help identify it? I guess all 4973cc, 32Valves, 326bhp (more powerful in UK!) V8's have this fluid bottle in the same place. It has a min & max mark very close to each other, especially compared to the size of the bottle! It's just I'm a little worried as it's empty! (I've only just brought the beauty, so I'm learning!). Apart from the empty fluid bottle, the car is faultless and in tip top condition!

Any news on the mystery Fluid Bottle?

Does it have a hose that goes to water pump housing or radiator?

No.
It's Ok, I've since taken it to a Mercedes dealer and they told me it was the suspension fluid bottle! They re-filled it free of charge and now I just have to wait and see if there is a leak...

Do keep a close eye on the level to see if it drops.

I would imagine there is a UK equivalent phone # but if not, you could probably call 1-800-FOR MERC to order an owner's manual if it didn't come with one.

Congrats on the fine vehicle!

On my 560SEL it is in fact the Suspension Fluid Reservoir - from what I read on here, keep it half filled with Merc Hyrdaulic fluid ONLY.

Mine was empty when I bought it, the rear rose right up! There was one line that was slowly seeping, I had that replaced and am good to go.
