The pull down strap on the rear hatch of my 88' TE has torn through. Does anyone have any experience replacing the strap?

Does the rear panel have to come off to get at the screws?

I don't know for sure, but if you look real closely, can you see any screws? If you can't, you probably have to get something out of the way first.

A gentleman on the Mercedes List answered your query yesterday...said you just needed a screwdriver.
