I don't think its the duty of a Smog inspector to disconnect the wheel sensors. So I looked for another inspection station and found the answer:

In California, cars with slip or traction control and without a disengagement switch are tested the old way -- meaning no dynamometer. The tech said this is common on Mercedes. The only surprise is that the inspector yesterday did not already know this.

Test done. Car legal.
