Neutral Safety Switch

Is there supposed to be a Switch lever on the Neutral Safety Switch that lines up with the Transmission Shift Lever? I am attempting to discover the reason I am not getting backup lights and neutral safety since replacing shift linkage bushings.

The linkage arm hooks to the shaft coming out of the tranny .
This shaft goes through the N Safety switch . The switch also has an arm on it that has a protrusion that has to line up with the linkage arm so they turn in unison. [ this locks them together]
If this tab has not been lined up, the N switch remains stationary, regardless of the linkage movement...

Arthur, thanks for the help. I broke the arm clean off the switch. Hello Fastlane.
