V.Any of you guys remember the old 114 chassis 220diesels? A high school buddy of mine used to have one with a manual transmission. Since the car was a stick shift there was no auto trans shift linkage on the side of the block. So instead of one, I took out two freezeplugs and installed two block heaters in the thing for him. Talk about working good,he would plug it in at night and in the morning when he turned the ign on the temp gauge was already reading about 175 degrees!Of course as soon as it started it would actually cool down, before warming back up. Yeah,it was a rusty old piece, with floorboard holes that let snow blow in as you drove, but man, that sucker always started right up!
