Trans help please
A question:
How long should a 1992 300e Auto-trans last? How much should a rebuild cost, or a new unit? Thank you in advance PS My tranny recently stopped working correctly, It would go into 1st gear, second, then rev up to like 4-5k an then shift sloppy, later not shift at all...I have no idea what it could be. Trans makes a whining noise. Sometimes it will not engage a gear at all...reverse works fine, and so does first.... any comments? |

Well if you talk to the designer of the trans he will tell you that it should last the life of the car. BUT in the real world with good service 200K-250K miles is a good figure.
Have replaced MANY transmissions under the warranty period 4year/50K miles. TRY changing the fluid & filter first. IF the filter is plugged then you will have this type of problem.
