Weird Sounds

Guys I need some help. I just bought an 86 300E and I'm trying to determine how much repair I need to do to get it running right. I've already replaced the engine and need to do some suspension work. That being said, here's my problem.

The instrument panel and dash lights seem to fade in and out. When the dash shuts down (everything except the speedometer), I hear a humming sound from my front left speaker. When I turn my signal on or the dash becomes functional again, the sound goes away. I've replaced the fuse once already.

Also when I shut the car off it looks like the a few lights on the dash also remain on.

Any idea what this might be? I'm trying to decide if I should jump ship now before getting in too deep.

Check all your grounds behind the cluster.

It may be a cheap repair. Good luck!

I would replace all fuses and clean the connections - they are notorious for corroding, and this is definitely an electrical problem.

Ditto checking the grounds.
