Fault code reading
I have figured out from the manual I received with the TRISCO Palm Scanner that I require a 9 pin plug to read codes from a 1989 260e W124. It tells me in the manual that I can read and review the KOER ratio. Can anybody throw any light on the KOER ratio.

Hi
Anyone that knows how all this works on a 1998 CLK 320 cab. It does not have an OBDII connector since it is a european sold car. I have started a thread (http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?threadid=98704) where I ask if there are anyone that knows how to do diagnostics (and reset) using the 38 pin connector (X11/4) and if anyone knows if there are any PC based scanner/tools that I can use, either direct or with some modification on the hardware. Thanks for your help /Michael |

Hi Jim
Thanks. I will look into the Trisco scanner in more detail. It seem to solve the tool-problem for a reasonable amount of money. But, still, I would very much like to know more details about how the 38-pin connector works for my car (1998 CLK 320). If I know that, I may be able to do my own diagnostic scanner PC-program. Anybody that can shed any light over this ? /Michael |

Reviving an old thread, go me!
anyway I've got a 95 E320 wagon and a 95 E420. both have the LED as well as the X11 multipin connector. I apparently need to go build the DIY LED tester and then check for codes becuse my E420 is way sick. I am a little confused as to what is analog and what is digital, are my 95's both? |

What are the base codes?

built the DIY tester. works like a champ. for posterity, I used the pins from a 9-pin d-sub conector and they fit like a glove.
anywho.....Holy Stuttgart Batman! here is the breakdown of the codes that I pulled off my 1995 E420: OEM LED connector - 6 Pin 4 - 1 6 - 13, 25, 26 7 - 2, 5, 11 8 - 6, 7 16 - 1 17 - 1 19 - 6 |

Yea.... the first time I pulled mine I had all sorts of codes.
What's wrong with your vehicle?

the main problem is a pulsing idle. that is to say that while running, but not in gear (as in P or N), the car surges between 750 to about 1200+ rpm. kind of like an asthma attack or something. car starts just fine, and hasn't stalled out or anything, but obviously something is wrong. and whats weird is that once you put it in D the surging goes away.

Sounds like a throttle actuator problem but the first step is to clear all the codes and see what comes back. By the way I don't believe there is a code 25 and 26 on pin 6 which might call all your results into question.

It actually doesn't go away in "D"; if you listen carefully, the "idle" is still going up and down but the tranny is migating the excursions. |

Built Code Reader, Not Helping
94 e420 119K miles.
What does it mean if I cannot get any codes out of the diagnostic module? It will not flash on the home built reader or the built in one. I just tested all of the pins and I only have code 10 on pin 6 and code 5 on pin 7. I cleared these and the CEL remains on.
