Vacuum Modulator 95 E320

I'm still having trouble with shift flares from 2-3.

Want to make sure my modulator isn't screwed up...

Never having seen a known good one off of a car, I don't really know how the adjusting mechanism works but, on mine, after removing the cap of course, the "T" adjusting mechanism pulls completely out of the modulator (actually fell on the garage floor the first time I did this).

Seems to me that it ought to be attached by a retaining spring or some such thing.

Am I correct?

Thanks,

Allan

The tee comes right out. Do you have a white plastic cap or a black rubber cap? The tee on the white plastic doesn't need to be pulled out to turn as the cap has the retaining slots. The black rubber type has to have the tee pulled out just enough to clear the castellations.

Steve,

Mine has the black cap.

What do you suggest if you've been clumsy enough so that it was pulled all the way and fell on the garage floor.

I suppose just stick it back in, drive the car, see where you are, and start adjusting?

Thanks

Just clean the dirt off and stick it back in. The adjustment will be where ever it was when you pulled it. Just make the adjustment that you had originally intended and put the cap back on (it doesn't matter where the lever is put , what matters is how far you have turned what the lever plugs into). No big deal.
