89 300e transmission won't shift into drive

I have an 89 300e, that I put a new transmission in it about 50,000 miles ago. On my way to work this morning I stoped at a light and when I started to go it just wouldn't shift into high gear.
transmission fluid seems to be good and I did a transmission service on it less than 20,000 miles ago.
Can anyone give me advice on this

Disconnect the kick down solenoid at the right rear of the trans. If it makes a difference the problem is the cheap plastic switch under the gas pedal. I like to start at the trans solenoid as that verifies there are no electrical circuit causes. I have never seen it but since kickdown is regulated in the fuel pump relay a defect there could also keep it engaged, but not if disconnected at the trans.

Ok I'll give that a shot tonight after I get home from work. Thank you.
The plastic switch under the gas pedal would need to be replaced if it will switch gears after I disconnect the solenoid, If I understand you correctly?

Yes, most likely. You could just start at the switch as it is usually the problem. Just disconnect it.
