300E Brakes Question

had all 4 corner brakes done several days ago.
at high speed 80-100 mi., i noticed some humming or wringing
sound, not high pitch sound. could it be the pads/rotors are just
settling in?

before i scream back at shop, could i have some input, pls.?

thanks

Hi Joel,

I would probably go back to them and tell them just as you describe here. (No need to yell, yet.) Ask them to take another look at the brakes on the lift just to be sure all the lines are where they aught to be and the wheels spin reasonably free. I don't think they will charge you for it and you have peace of mind.

Could it be the road you traveled on? Tire pressure, window not quite closed?

Good luck

Reinhard Kreutzer

i was told the humming sound is my wheel bearing that needs to be repacked or replaced.

is this just a coincedence or a result of bad brake job?

Hi Joel,
If you had the rotors done, you have to "expose" the spindle and at least one bearing. There is a chance that you get dirt into it. It is often recommended to check the bearings and re-grease them when you do the brake rotors. Your case seems to prove the recommendation.
Good luck

Thanks RK for the input, i will definitely let another shop
do this for me. Intentionally or not, it reflects poor business and standard practice on their part.

W124 rotors can be changed without touching/disturbing the wheel bearings.
