as i have done hundreds of times, i left work and unlocked my car (1987 560SEL) at the drivers door. when i opened the door, the (factory) alarm went off. i thought that i might have opened the door before all door locks were up. so i closed the drivers door and tried to turn off the alarm. that did not work. after two alarm cycles it stopped. i locked the door and heard the locks engage, but the trunk lock didn't sound as if it locked. i removed the key, re-inserted and unlocked the car. i heard and watched all four door locks open and heard the trunk vacuum unlock. i opened the door and the alarm went off again. just that morning the front brake pad warning light came on, but its hard to think that there’s a link between the two .
i search for the alarm horn and the alarm system fuse but couldn’t find it. i ended up pulling the fuse (#15) but that also disables the SRS. i would like to fix this correctly but it is very difficult with that incessant honking going off in your ears, especially in the residential neighborhood i live in.
has anyone had this problem or heard about this problem??
any way to find that darn horn??
