Question 98 E320 broken fog light lens

Three questions:

1- Can I just replace the lens or do I need to buy the whole unit?

2- If lens can be replaced, where can I buy it? I doubt if the dealer sells just the lens?

3- How difficult is it to replace the lens? Can it be done without removing the front bumper?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

S.

Yes you can buy just the Lens...

Yes the MB Dealer sells it

Yes You can replace the glass on the fog lite without the front bumper being removed...There is a little panel under each fog light Left and right sides...then three bolts to remove the light assy...Then replace the glass

Might want to look at www.clearbra.com 3m covers

Those ROTTEN W210 lower bumper fog lamps. Curse all cars sold in the snow belt (we put gravel on the roads, remember) with lower bumper fogs!

Our E300 had a broken fog when we sold it, and the new owner (a friend) bought the lens on it's own.

Yes, we had 3M on it, but it somehow managed to just catch the edge where the film had a teeny gap. Same thing on the headlamp on my C230.

When working on the 210 fogs, you're better off removing the lower apron panel under the front bumper. It involves removing the panel under the engine, then 8 screws with attach the apron to the underbody. LOT'S more access room then....

Thanks for all your help and advice. I ordered the lens from Fastlane for $16 (includes overnight shipping). I need to replace the lens before the inside gets too dirty. It is raining here and there is no lens left to keep the moister and dirt out.

Since I am going to be under the car, I am thinking of a thorough inspection of the harmonic balancer as well. Is the part number visible from under belly of the car?

You could get half of the job done and remove the foglight for now, to help keep it in good shape, then replace the lens and reinstall it when you get the part.

Lens arrived today and I was able to replace it in 10 minutes flat.

I am most certain that the dealer would have charge me >$100 to do the job.
