sway bar studs are EXTREMELY RUSTED...Afraid they're going to break, if they do.....

Then what? I couldn't see how I coulod replace those? I ordered the brackets, bushings, and nuts all from fastlane, but I didn't see anything of bolts or studs. I'm going to try my hardest NOT to break one, but it looks like it may be pretty impossible.
Thanks
David

Spray PBlaser on the nuts and let it soak in for a while. Use 6 point sockets on the nuts.

Good luck Want that looks like one pita of a job. Why is there so much rust one yours? It looks like new down there on mine. But after going threw my car I think it's a CA car, the vacum system diagram seems to match that of a CA car. So the first owner kept it until 1994 @80k so maybe it didn't see the salt for the first 9 years. From reading your posts, I'm having to fix as many things as you, these old MB are lucky there are people like us to fix them.

Perpare for a new sway bar. Both ends rotted off on my 84 SD. the only fix was a new bar and alignment. Not a difficult repair on an SD.

The sway bar itself is rust free. I checked becasue I have seen a few with broken sway bars going cheap. It is mainly the rights side that is rusted. The body is rusted there also, only in the area right around the bracket. When we put a breaker bar on it, the whole mount started to turn a little bit, so we decided that it was too rusted to bother with. The rust is the main reason we want ot get rid of the POS. That rust is the main part of it. THere are 3 very small bubbles on the left rear fender well and the front bumper cover has the usual rust on it. That's it, but the rust by the sway bar brackets spells for future disaster.
Yesterday we got the left side bracket off and am going to just reuse the existing bushing since neither of us feel like going through the hold process of somehow getting a bushing on. Besides, it wouldn't be right to just do one side's bushing. So, does anyone need 2 sway bar bushings and 1 sway bar bracket?
Thanks
David
