I don't have a C36, but I have the 3.2 liter M104 engine in my W124.
In hot weather, above 85 degrees or so, in stop and go traffic or after exiting the freeway after a spirited run, my temp gauge goes slowly up to 107, when the high speed fan kicks in and drops in down to 100, whn the high speed fan stops. It will run consistently in the upper 90's to around 100. If I'm maintaining a consistent speed on the freeway, even it hot weather, the temp gauge stays between 85 and 90.
