Shift Knob Removal

If you can do it by hand, turn the cylinder (the black round piece at the bottom of the shifter knob) counter clock-wise. It will separate from the knob and then just pull it off.

Mine was difficult by hand so I wrapped a towel around the cylinder for padding and applied light pressure with a vice grip turning counter clock-wise and it came right off undamaged.
