I have a 2000 S500 that is having a Command Center Problem. My audio cuts out, then the phone drops dead, and then it says there is no CD changer. The radio and Navigation still opeates, just no audio... I've tried to reset by stopping car and restarting, but problem still persists - need some suggestions please.

These units are infamous for its multiple malfunctions and erratic errors. As I read in many articles and threads on this site, Mercedes did exchange many Command Centers on mostly 1999, 2000 and a few 2001 S-classes on warranty for many customers.
Is you car still on warranty? If it is, I will run to your local M.B. dealer and demand a new unit.

Not on warranty anymore. They've replaced the unit once, but just the dash unit, not the CD changer or any other pieces. I have logged numerous issues with it and I have a good relationship with my dearlership - maybe I can get it done one more time...
Any idea how much to replace entire system, including all speakers, amps, woofers, etc? If very expensive I've been getting a wild hair to go have something custom put in - thoughts? |
