I was checking the relays near the battery in an 87 190e last night. I had the key on and I noticed substantial heat coming from a coil pack near all the brains/relays on the passenger side. Is this another case of Benz over-engineering? I assume it is to assist the electronics during winter months. Any thoughts? Thanks. Tinker

Actually it's the blower resistor & it needs to have cooler air around it to dissapate heat.
