ASR engages on dry pavement

Hi,
Took the 420 out this weekend and twice in a 15 mile ride the ASR engaged. Excellerator hard to push and speed drops. Pulled over and shut down the car. Restart with everything OK. Did it again in just a few miles. Found that it does not happen with cruise off.
Could it be sensors that are corroded or rusty. Car sits a lot. We drive it on a weekend once in a a while. And I just recently replaced a center Muffler and repaired an AC leak, so it sat for several months without any attention at all.
