So the dumba$$ across the street.....

backed into my benz
The daughter of the old people that live directly across the street was backing out of their driveway and didn't even attempt to turn the wheel and plowed into the rear divers side door. The car was covered at the time, so the paint isn't scratched, but it doesn't matter because the door is f*cked.
So, she said that she will pay whatever it costs to fix it, but there is no way they will be able to fix the door. I'm taking the car on Monday to one of the most expensive body shops here in San Diego for a quote. I'm pretty bummed, but whatever. The door can be replaced. The car is nearly 38 years old now and has never been in an accident until now, so it sucks.
Anyone know where I might be able to find a door in socal just incase a body shop has a hard time? Thanks guys.
BTW, I'll post up pics tomorrow.

Unhappy

Bummer, make it expensive for her!
You see so much dumb crap people do when driving these days, you wonder who taught them to drive.
You just have to hope that sooner or later they will kill each other off but they seem to be reproducing too quickly and always seem to try to take someone else with them.

Try This Place

Boy, Deja Vu all over again, as Yogi said.

A couple of months a go, my father-in-law launched his Caddy into my 280E's front passenger door. Given he's family, I can't take him to the cleaners for repair costs, though Deisel Dog thinks otherwise. Two quotes so far, one with a used door, sprayed to match and one with dent pulled and filled, also sprayed to match. Both are around $700 for the job. My paint color is MB 906 a clear-coat light blue metalic. Quotes for a door from "Recyclers" are about $200.

I used Silver Star Recycling to get a set of used wheels. They have inventory on their web site so you can actually check colors and cars. www.silverstarrecycling.com/

Good luck, Alex

Hello,
Looks like it can be fixed, even the chrome strip is still in one piece, but I shudder to think of the labour cost to remove the dent, fill and then paint to match.
Sorry to see that such a nice car had to be in a stupid accident like this.
