Does my power windows on my 1974 280C have a fused circuit or relay for the motor circuits??? Two of the windows quit working at the same time.....thanks all for any help.

I would be interested in hearing about your personal experiences with this vehicle as it is similar to the '74 280 CE I just puchased a few weeks ago.

The windows that quit working, were they opposing or same side? If both left or right side then I would suspect the switch, if say, left front and right rear went out (or the other two) then it is the fuse.
The fuses for the windows should be under the hood on the firewall. There are several covered, two fuse fuseblocks near the right fender/firewall area. Just lift the cover off and check the fuses. There should be four of these fuse blocks, and the one closest to the fender (I think) should be the block for the power windows. Even if the fuses look OK, change them out, and clean the fuseblock ends before installing new 16 amp (red) fuses. ------------------ Mike Tangas 73 280 SEL 4.5 |
