W108 - 1972 280SE 4.5 - I need help identifying this relay

When I had the car up on the lift at the mechanic today we found two relays dangling from underneath the passenger front side. One is in good shape, the other was in bits and peaces. We removed the bad one (or whatever there was left of it). I need help identifying it.

The other relay dangling with it has a part number that starts with 000 542 ... We couldn't read the rest.

Here's a pic with a view from the top, and a close-up:

If the body is round on the relay pictured, and it looks like it is, you need a 000 542 9719 which operates the cold start valve.

This relay is used on several different Mercedes for several different things, but the cold start valve seems to be what it is used for on your 1972 4.5.

These are usually about $35 each.

Guys, thanks for your replies. The part appears to be connected the a non-starting issue the car is having, for which I had started another thread. In order to keep things organized, I'm gonna continue the conversation over there.

No, the cold start valve is on top of the engine at the front in the middle of the intake manifold.

But that is the location of the cold start valve relay which has four connections and a location pin.

My 1972 350SL with same Djet system uses the icecube style relays. Functionally, they should be the same. But the pin arrangement is likely different.

To use them, you may need both a relay and a base. I have pinout somewhere, but pic below gives the idea. Finding a few good used round ones would no doubt be best bet.
