76 280C 110 motor. Car accelerates but dies, will not hold idle

I've been lurking here for years now. I have a 1976 280C, 110 motor that's been sitting at my daughter's house for almost three years.
The car has a Holley carburetor that the previous owner installed years ago and it ran fine.
I just had the car transported down to my house and it starts but will not hold idle, it will only keep running if I keep accelerating it in a pumping fashion. If I hold the pedal steady, it will die.

Thank you in advance.

How old is the gas? Stale gas can do that, as can a gummed up carb.

Well, it's not a bad idea to get all that old gas out of there. I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Thanks!

T7:

Whether the Holley carb is a 2-barrel or a 4-barrel, there are idle mixture screws exposed laterally a bit below the mid-line of the float bowl. There is a screw on each side. The screw heads are quite small, about 3/16" in diameter. With a small screwdriver, unscrew each mixture screw in turn about three turns, then back in the same amount, plus 1 additional turn, then back to the original point. This "exercising" of the mixture screws may release some of any built up fuel residue, and gum, allowing fuel to flow again in the idle circuits.

It is a Holley 4360, four barrel.

Thank you, I'll give it a try.

Please set aside the location remarks (above, post #4) for the idle mixture screws.
On the 4360 (Economaster) the screws point forward, have larger heads with a spring under the head, and are angled upwards at about 45 deg.

Yes, thank you. I kinda figured that.

Thanks!
