Well said Bill.

We ALL have threads that WE are tired of but MOST of us don't tune in to those we cannot help or cannot use.

Since I don't have one, it makes me really jealous whenever people write about their 240D's.

I say there should also be a seperate place for 240D's!!!

Especially the standard shifts!!!!!!
I have to agree,But it should be expanded,I don't have have a turbo, and my A/C works fine so we can stop talking about these for a while.

This whole thread is pointless.
All WVO threads are clearly "Marked" with words like WVO and "cooking oil" and such. When you see a thread so marked and your not interested.
DONT CLICK ON IT!!!

Not Pointless

Read the terms of service for this forum. It says that you must search before you post and not repost the same topic. You can be banned for doing this.

Quote:
Compulsory Rules

Transgressions here may result in banning.

1. Use descriptive subject lines and research your post. This reduces the chances of double-posting, and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Also, scan the subjects of the last several days' posts to make sure you aren't duplicating posts.
Read the sticky thread at the top of the forum titled: Forum Rules

The rules are for a good reason, if there are 100 threads on diesel wvo blends, and there are, you can't read them all, searching is useless.

It is also shows a total lack of respect, a repost says: "We don't care what you have to say, we are going to trash this forum with our senseless chatter and if you don't like it, **** on you."

Once again, I doubt there is anything posted in the last few weeks about WVO that hasn't already been posted.

I personally could care less, I see the entertainment value of reposts, conversation, sharing. But don't act like you don't understand why some people are sick of it.

The Open Discussion forum doesn't have the same rules. You can open threads there without searching or anything. It is perfect for conversational threads on any topic you like.

Thanks for the feedback

I appreciate everyones posts on the subject.

First of all, as I noted in my original post I use WVO. Second of all, One of the reason I have only 58 posts is because I use the search function more than the post function. I try to limit my posting to when I haven't found the answers via search.

As I said to blue ranger in PM, I don't want to scare people away from this forum at all, but rather want them to know that their questions will be more completely answered on WVO forums (or if someone wants to create, on a WVO portion of this forum). If you aren't careful with WVO then you can do some harsh damage to your engine. No mercedes owner wants that. There have been some outlandish claims regarding using WVO on this forum which aren't being adequately answered and which will lead to damage of your engines and carbon build up.

I'm all for a WVO section of the forum. Especially if it is going to keep people from leaving. Although I do manage to frequent several WVO forums as well as Mercedesshop, because each serves a specific function.

So in summary, I advocate this forum whole heartedly. If people want WVO discussion here, maybe we can setup a WVO section. In any case if you want the facts on WVO I would recommend a couple wvo forums, but come back here to buy your parts from Phil.

And in hommage to LB - Search your forum, search it often

Actually, I'm also on the infopop bio and SVO and there is really not much info at all on blending there. I've asked several questions and get loads of LOOKS but very few answers. And I'm much more interested in finding what other MB owners do, Not what VW owners do since our cars are nothing alike.
I'm all for a WVO addition to this forum since the others just don't have the info we blenders or SVO people need.
So, I've tried that way and not gotten nearly the number of responses that I get here. Even when you discount the number of 'NOT ANOTHER WVO QUESTION!!' posts. . .

I've been following this thread and find that you're right. Not very much MBZ info out there. Just TDI stuff.

Count my vote as a yes for the WVO forum here. I am just starting to get my act together with the things I need for running WVO and am sure I'll have some questions but would hate to post after reading the negative responses here.

Yes....I'll search first.

Cheers,

Bill

wvo

since the popularity of wvo/svo/bio the value and popularity
of the older mb diesels have risen. In addition over the last
couple of years the number of members to this forum has also
increased... All that said, we are buying our parts and getting our
advise from this forum...since all this is directly related to part
sales from this site I believe the management values having us
wvo'ers around and I would hope that they would want to further
develope this sector of there business....I dont think we hurt the forum
but rather enhance it.

I agree, it is good to have you here. Please learn to use the advanced search feature so that you can make the forum better and not just clog it up with repetitive nonsense like this.

If you SEARCH on the infopop site (which may require you to register now...Free!) you will find tons of info about people's experience blending WVO and various solvents for use in MB's.

There are several individuals there who have a great deal of experience with blends beyond "it has worked for 1'000 miles". Look for posts by a guy named sushi blender as he has done a great deal of research into this area of WVO use.

Like on this forum, people at the infopop site want to you to search as well so basic questions about blending probably won't get answered there either. That may explain why you haven't had any luck there.

i'm all for a WVO forum here.

I like the Infopop site it an awesome site. But all too often I'll be reading a thread with some great info only to find out later that they were talking about a Cummins engine.

We need something specifically for MB's

Amen, brother. Maybe people won't get so upset about having so many WVO threads then...

You really don't get it, do you?

After the same topic is reposted several times knowledgeable people are bored with it and won't participate and many will be annoyed with the clutter.

Once again, the WVO threads are already here, read them. There are people here who have been doing this stuff for years, literally, search. If you want information read the threads and if you have something new to say, add to it. If you open a new thread, post a link to the old thread and build from there.

If you want to have mutual admiration repost chit-chat threads and pat each other on the backs, that is fine, post it in the open forum. Take your clutter over there.

If you don't think that there is info on MB on infopop it is because you are not searching. That is where I learned much of what got me started with WVO. Ever heard of Kugel blend?

BTW, the old pre-TDI VW injectors are almost just like ours.
