i believe so but do a little test on it first. put some of each, mixed, in a glass container and see what happens. some have had a wax fall out and clog things up.

If a dino diesel blend doesn't work for you then a biodiesel blend definitely should

Hello Everyone

I have run blends of diesel and WVO.

I filter and dewater the WVO first.

Yes, a veggie oil/diesel blend will power your diesel. Straight veggie oil will burn too. The only trick is cold weather. When it gets cold your veggie oil can gel up clogging filters and choking injectors, and not burn completely. All this can cause a lot of pain and a lot of $$ to fix. This is why people put in a second tank, heated fuel lines and all that jazz. To run veggie properly and for long term use you need to heat the veggie oil. If it's going to burn properly the veggie needs to be around 160F.

Ok, so I dump 17 litres of WVO mixed with 2 Litres of RUG in to a tank that contained 14 Litres of Diesel.

My Observations:

Exhaust smells more like candle smoke but can be recognized as WVO.
A tad more smoke at idle, no black smoke on acceleration.
The Diesel sound that the engine typically makes has been greatly reduced.
My Idle speed has decreased by 5-10 RPM...

We'll have to see if it starts in the morning...

Sounds like you may have to drive just for the fun of it just to burn all of the stuff! Sure wish I could cut a deal with some place. No luck yet. What is our secret??

1) I went around to the 7 closest Asian restaurants to my house and took a very small sample from each ones grease dumpster late at night. ( I took approximately 1/4 liter).

2) Went home, let the bottles settle for about 9 days.

3) Performed the "pan test" to test for emulsified water. 4 out of the seven had traces of water, 2 had no traces, and 1 was absolutely unusable.

4) After going to my top two choices (based on color, amount of particles, and amount of emulsified water) and eating a meal during a non rush time, IE 1 hour before closing, or around 4:00. I asked both managers/owners if I could have their used oil and if they could put it back into the cubies that they come in. They happily agreed after I explained to them what it was for.

I have more oil than I could ever use by myself.

I agree. I find going in the less busy periods of the restraunts day and actually eataing a meal their helps. If you don't go that route just act overly optomistic and friendly. Keep your explanation short and percise and put all that together it is hard to say no unless they are legally bound under a contract and even then they usually don't know it or don't care.

If you need some give me a ring and since USASOC has Friday off (at least I know we do) we can go out and grab some up around post.

Watch when it gets cold. I just got done with a huge ordeal of having a wax buildup in my tank when the temps dropped this spring. had to drop the tank have if professionally cleaned and put all new filters in. Happened to find out the hard way that the wax was falling out by breaking down on the side of the road.

Just add more RUG to keep it from solidifying?

It wasn't a problem with it solidifiing. My WVO does not even soldify at Freezer Temperatures. At certain temps and depending on what they use in the #2 in your (our) area in the winter the wax in the fuel will precipitate out and form layers and chunks of wax in your tank and fuel system. Only happened to me though when temps dropped to the low 40's and below. But when you heat it back up it will not blend back in. Once it happens you are kinda screwed.

So this wax ia actually in the #2 and not in the WVO?
