Finally some honest experience from you. Now we can get somewhere. If you are really honest now we know that at least one person has had problems running veggie when starting cold below 45 degrees. What you are saying now is a far cry from what you were saying. I can believe that it is possible to get some coking issues when starting an engine on veggie when its below 45. And I think it is possible to remedy or eliminate coking during cold weather by blending veggie with some sort of thinner like naphthalene. How will we ever learn anything about these cars if we are not honest with each other ? ![]() RichC .

Where did my posts go?
I suppose that they disappeared into that big off topic graveyard in the sky...........the place for all posts that don't belong on the current thread.
If you want to discuss the politics of oil, there's an open discussion forum. Have at it. Last edited by Brian Carlton; 05-11-2008 at 06:27 PM. |

tax was paid
If you mix diesel and "veggi whatever" in a 50/50 or even 20/80 mix. You paid tax on the diesel and the "additive" is just increasing the efficiency

What if I'm a rich guy and buy a tesla roadster which is an electric only car and is charged by plugging it. Do I have to pay road tax?
The prius is heavier than most cars of it's size, so it's damaging the roads more, though it's paying less tax to maintain the roads. A diesel car is heavier than the equivalent petrol, so it's damaging the roads more, though it pays less tax. The idea on taxing customers based on the amount of fuel is pretty flawed imo.

Libertarian
I've been one since, perhaps the 70's. I read "How I found freedom in an unfree world" by Harry Browne. I've lived that way ever since. I have not gone the way of my friend Randy. He declared himself a "free citizen" and
no longer registers his vehicles. It's legal, but a hassle I don't want. As far as burning Costco oil, I'd do it in a second if it works without hurting my car. How about all those folks with electric cars? I'm sure they didn't pay a tax to the gov.,even if they used electricity generated by fossil fuel. I speed, sometimes I use illict substances, I'll burn Costco oil if after looking into it to see if I can. I DESPISE all sumptuary laws! I break them on a regular basis. If I can use something that is outside the fossil fuel channel, I feel I'm HELPING my country. I don't give a bright red F*CK about the law. Hell some laws kept blacks off the bus. As long as you assess risk vs. gain, burning Costco oil is like driving 89mph. I do that every time I'm out in my "other" car.

Well politics aside
Can you add Costco oil to your car's tank safely? In what mix and with what additive? What are the mechanical consequences? Most of us could give a crap about the legality. No law enforcement agency could even tell
if half your tank was Costco oil if you didn't tell them, sheesh

I've been "adding" .50/quart motor oil and my 603 LOVES IT!
I would pee in the tank If I thought it would work! Desperate times call for desperate measures. If we built our roads right, they wouldn't need constant repair. Why is BIO as mutch as reg. deisel?....who's screwin whom? My two cents worth to start the week!
