hey there,

i didn't have anything fixed. i just had a PPI.

they were nice though.

i would HIGHLY recommend Mr. MB Motors in Tarzana. we have people driving from SF to use him. for the LA area he is the best. do a search on MB motors. he's on reseda boulevard and worth the drive. he's cheap, he lets you use your own parts.

Mr. MB in Tarzana

Thanks.
Having heard so much of Mr. MB in Tarzana, I can't help but give them a try, at least to have my car diagnosed.

Is Mr. MB in Tarzana a sponsor here or what? He is okay, but not all that great. Must be a inside thing. (hint-hint) His prices are definitely not cheap! I am not a disgruntled customer just, telling my good-to-honest opinion.

He's not a sponsor, and if you've found shop rates less than $65 in the area for good work please let us know where. I went to Enrique based on the recommendations here and I've been extremely pleased. He's given me excellent service, never tried to sell me on anything I haven't needed (quite the opposite) and done a number of things for free. In the last couple of weeks he spent a total of at least an hour on the phone with me diagnosing a problem by remote while I was out of state - he'll never make a penny from that. As I described in the MR MB thread, last summer he drove to Pasadena from Tarzana after he closed the shop to diagnose a problem for a friend I recommended to him when she couldn't afford to tow her car to him. He drove out again the next night after the shop closed, fixed the car, and he only charged her for the part - no labor, travel, etc. What more do you want from your mechanic?

What problems have you had with him?

$65/hr? I don't know where you got that from. Anyways, no problems. I just think he is just average.

Yep, he only charges $65 / hr., which is just about what the knuckleheads at Manny, Moe and Jack charge.

He has done so much work for me, too, free of charge, i.e. burnt out light bulb replacement, fluid top-off's, etc. I tried to pay him, anything, even a measly $5.00, but he wouldn't take it.

The guy has been working on MB's for over 40 years, on three contintents: Europe (Spain), Africa, (South Africa), and America (Argentina and the U.S.). He works on all the cars, even the real old ones, which many MB specialist mechanics won't even touch.

He has such a well-known reputation that the local Mercedes dealers take cars to him that they can't diagnose. Enrique has confided this to me, and I, in fact, was there when a dealer technician drove up, in uniform, in an R129 SL500.

I would place Enrique as one of the top MB technicians in the entire U.S., if not the world.

Well, I did not see that anywhere like, on the wall or anywhere else.
My charges on my bill do not reflect that.
Anyways, I think I will try Kaz's Repair next time.
Heard good things about them. Enrique may have people driving from SF to see him. These people have customers coming from Las Vegas to get their Benzes repaired there. BTW, I have no affiliative ties with either Enrique or Kaz's unlike, some of the other members here.

You hinted ("hint, hint") at that before. Aside from many of us being satisfied customers, what and who are you referring to? BTW, there's been a sign with the shop rate on the wall of the garage since I started going to him over a year ago.

Also, I drive my SD down from Utah for Enrique to work on, six hours farther than Vegas. Enrique wins the distance award.

Yeah, his shop rate is clearly posted on the wall of his shop.

S60, I don't know what crazy agenda you have here.

One thing I'd like you to stop is your not-so-subtle attempts at accusing me, or others, of being "affiliated" with Enrique's shop.

I HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH HIS SHOP.

I AM NOT A PAID ENDORSER.

I am just a happy customer.

Feel free to use any shop that you like. It doesn't affect me at all. Just don't cast aspersions at me because I am happy with Enrique's work.

Total B.S. whatevers!

I know for a fact that this Forum is bias. I went to him under the recommendations of this Forum, but found nothing what certain members said valid. I can see some of the members are using this Forum misguiding people all the time. I just know this total B.S. about recommending people to a certain place as unpaid advertising to get certain benefits from a certain business or otherwise.

So you think I'm getting benefits from Enrique?

Prove it.

I'm the one who first recommended Enrique.

I would like to state a few simple facts.

1. My family has known Enrique for more than 20 years. We have always had our Mercedes serviced by him, no matter where he was. When he worked at Beverly Hills Mercedes, our cars went to him there. When he worked at The dealer in encino, our cars went there, when he opened his shop, our cars went there. My Family knew him back when we lived in South Africa.

2. He has never ever, treated anyone one of my family members or myself wrong in anyway. His prices were always fair, and his work is always done right.

3. Many members have gone to him based on my recommendation, and everyone of them has nothing but high praise to say about him and the quality of his work and his prices.

4. The local dealers in the area bring him cars that they cannot fix, I know because My father had his car at the dealer and they could not figure out the problem. The dealer took the car to enrique and he had it fixed within a couple of hours.

5. Enrique is not a sponsor of this site, he doesn't give anyone kickbacks for recommending him, and nobody here is affiliated with him in any means of getting something in return. He may do a freebie on something little here or there, because that is called good customer service.

You know what we get in return for recommending Enrique to others, we get the satisfaction of knowing that we have helped our fellow MB enthusiasts find a good mechanic who wont take advantage of them, who can fix their car's problems, and will do a good job.

I have sent well over 50 people to Enrique, and he doesn't treat me any differently, he is the same way he has been for as long as I have known him, Honest and always willing to do what it takes to make sure his customers are happy.

When I go in for service, he does the work that I ask, recommends other things that need to be done or that will need attention in the future, and he charges me accordingly.

It is a shame that the world is not perfect, but you can't please everybody, it's a fact of life.

I fix computers for a living, I charge good rates and I do good work, I take care of my customers and in turn they refer me to their friends and family, I don't tell my customers "refer me and I will do this or that for you", if they refer me, then they get a thank you.

You seem to be the only person out of well over 30+ people here who use him who is unhappy with him, but you still wont say what it is about Enriques shop you don't like or anything about your supposed experience with using him. His rates are clearly posted at his shop. I am beginning to think you have never used him, because if you had you would have noticed his rates posted in his shop in clear view.

I may be a moderator of a part of this site, but I don't get anything in return for that, I just like to help my community of Mercedes friends, for all they have done for me with their wealth of knowledge that is found on this site in the archives and in new posts everyday.

I wasn't even going to bother to reply to this, but since you seem to be making some accusations, I decided I would chime in.

ok, so I talked with my snap-on guy today. was thinking of a 14mm crescent wrench, which is a good size. it's not cheap, but it's quality. around $30.00 or so for the wrench. I will ask the trophy guy next door to my work about the plaque options.

Unless you think I should go with something bigger like 17mm? I figured 14mm would be good as it's a fairly common metric size on a benz, though 17mm is too.
