C220 - buttons on radio loose

Did a search around but could not find any info. 1996 C220 with CD changer in the trunk. The square buttons that control bass/treble and fader (upper left corner of radio) are loose or wiggly on the radio. They don’t seem to be in any danger of coming off, they are just loose. When you look at them they are not tight, or squared to their spaces. Kind of tilted out at a slight angle. I don’t want to pull on them as they are working fine, just not seated properly. Ideas?

Thanks,

Clay

I believe each of these cars are the final production year for that model.

They need to be replaced to properly fix the problem. Went through this on my old 202. If you have a good relationship with your tech, they may have old junk units that you can rob the buttons off of as they are not available seperately. The other possible solution is a little glue (emphasis on little) to pu it back as it should be.

Thanks! And another ?

How do the buttons come off/go on. Is it just a snap fit? (hate to use the word snap, as that is what I’m afraid I’ll do to the buttons on there now). Do they just pull straight off?

Thanks,

Clay

Are you sure the buttons aren't available? I am fairly sure they are.
