89 300se left speakers are not working one amplifier behind the rear seatback stopped working. Is this a common problem and is it repairable? If not what year cars would have the same component and would they be mounted in the same spot? PN 126 820 1889

From what I have read in this forum it is a common problem.
I bout a 1989 560SEL and had no right channel. Yesterday I popped the amps out from behind the back seat, and the right one was fried. My left one is fine, if it is the same as yours you are welcome to it if you pay shipping costs. I put a new 4 channel head unit in, by-passed the amps and wired it right to the 10 speaker system and WOW! what a difference. -gil
