Radio Amplifier

Have a 94 SL500 with Bose Acoustimass sound system; about a year ago I added an Alpine, in trunk CD player connected directly thru the Bose system via an adapter .

Now the speakers on the passenger side sound very fuzzy using the radio and CD player - been told by a car stereo shop that the amp/pre amp outputs for those speakers are shot. But no local stereo shop will work on the factory radio; should I get the dealer to replace the amp ( if that is the problem) or better to replace the system - or another solution? Is there any way to fix the amp without replacing the entire radio? Thanx

On the 1992 & later W140 chassis cars the amplifier is a BOSE unit & they "lose" a channel every once in a while as well. We send these out to radio repair shops as new ones go for $1,800.
I'm sure that some one can repair that circuit as well.

Lightbulb W140 - 1992500SEL BOSE Systenm

I had the bright idea of installing a complete Kenwood navigation and visual audio system in my car (92' 500SEL); well it didn't work out too well from an amplifier standpoint.
As it stands now, I have an 11 speaker system all running off one amp that comes with the Kenwood KVT910.
Long story short: I have the complete original Audio system that I will post for sale soon when I finally get my car done. Interested? let me know.
If you don't want the CD, there was someone else on the post that was interested.
Regards.

Joel
