Does anyone know what the stock bose system in a 98 CLK320 is? Speaker sizes, amps, subs, etc?

I have an Alpine 6-disk changer connected to the stock head unit and I want to change my setup.

Anyone got any ideas or tips they can share?

Thanks,
J

I don't know any of the technical info for you CLK. But if it's a cabriolet 6 speakers, and if it's a coupe, then 8 speakers.
You cannot change the speakers if you intend on keeping the factory head unit and amp. It will not work properly, and you could blow them very easily. I believe Mercedes uses 4 ohm speakers, and the usual is 6 or 2 ohms, the 4 being very hard to find. (Correct me if I am wrong anyone)

If you want more punch, I would suggest adding an amp and sub. I have a 400 watt amp (bypassing original amp) and a 10 inch sub. It sounds great now!

Bose uses 2 ohms speakers, MB intends to use 6 ohms speakers so now and then. Normal speakers are usually 4 ohms (at least that is what I noticed the last three weeks).

I have ordered some quality speakers for a R170 SLK at the nearby MB dealer...they ordered stock (6 ohm) speakers for the doors and some additional Bose (2 ohm) speakers to get the real sound. Those MB part-shop guys didn't even know that there is a difference between the impedance of their own speakers!!!

greetingz,
