I was wondering how to remove the radio on the 300SD. I looked at the DIY information but i cannot figure out how to remove the wood panel where the controls and shifter are. Can somebody help?

on the W126 you do not need to remove the shifter panel. Pull the ashtray out and look UNDER the radio. You will see two metal clips. Push these in and slide the radio out.
I beleive on your model the procedure is almost the same. I can't quite remember how the stereo goes in on the W116 chassis. |

Thanx, turns out the guy who owned the car before me had a new radio put in when they installed it i think it was at bestbuy the broke the clips and my panel with the a/c controls and lights, sunroof, rear defroster etc, was broke off too. If i do install a new cd player will if be secured enough or do i need to take it to a Mercedes Benz place and let them fix it?
Thanx ty |

The only way to find out if it will be secured enough, is to use good old trial and error. If the metal sleeve that the CD player comes with does not fill the dash opening completely, try stuffing some cardboard in the sides, to hold it firmly in place.
