adding subwoofer to w210
Ok guys, I've been searching bmworld and benzworld since about 9am, and I'm still confused. I've read damn near every thread regarding this, and every thread has conflicting statements, and not a whole lot of any concrete information. It's getting really frustrating.
My question is: how do I go about adding just a single subwoofer with aftermarket amp without removing any of the factory Bose system or changing headunits? My immediate thought would be an RCA converter that connects to the rear speakers to provide the signal, and has RCA outputs for an amp. In certain threads I read the voltage is too high to use one of these, then in other threads some say thats what they are using. So which is it? Anyting you guys can provide in the way of info is greatly appreciated |

It should be fine, the voltage won't be more than 14v since that's all your battery should be providing your subwoofer amp.
RCA cables would be the easiest way to get the signal from the head unit to the amp, and the Bose unit either doesn't have a pre-amp or if it does, it's not more than 2 volts. If you're worried about the voltage and want to play it safe, just put a fuse between the power wire and the amp.
