power antenna won't go down on shutdown (w123)

Hi everyone,

About 5 months ago I replaced my power antenna mast. Ever since then the antenna has been working flawlessly - goes up all the way when i start the car/turn on the radio and retracts fully when i turn off the radio or turn off the car.

Last week, the antenna did not retract after I shut off the car. I was able to manually raise and lower the antenna using the switch on the dash, so the motor works fine both ways. So, if I turn off the radio or turn off the car, the antenna remains fully extended. Where should I look?

Thanks for your help!

-Dylan

Does the antenna motor try? If you stand by the antenna while someone else turns if off, will a little help get it to move? Lubricate it. Might be a slight bend from wind. Might be a bad drive in the antenna (that's what killed mine).

take a close look at the contacts in the plug on the antenna.
