hi...ive been reading many of the posts regarding the 500e and 300e stereo upgrades and have learned quite a lot...i just have one question though...my plan is to install mb quart 4" coaxials in the dash... that looks easy enough (i am a complete novice still in college)...however, for the rear speakers and for some decent bass, i am planning to remove the two rear speakers and use the holes as ports (thanks michael and brian)...i am going to use a fosgate 200w amp to power a precision power 12" sub in a sealed box...the problem is that my alpine 7868 doesnt have preamp outputs, so that i need to use a line converter...i dont want to tun the speaker level input route becuase my friends have told me that that might short the system and damage the head unit...
so my question is: when i use a line converter, which set of wires do i use to run into the line converter? do i use only one of the rear speakers existing speaker wires or do i use both sets? or am i completely off the mark here? i have no idea how to do this and am planning to have someone install the amp in a couple days...i jut want to make sure that i understand everything beforehand so that i have an idea of what is going on in my car, and so that i may learn for any future installations...
thanks for all the help and i have to say that mercedesshop is THE best forum i have ever seen....thanks again guys!
