I have service with XM radio in my 87 300 D and I love it:p . Xm is currently the only company that has launched sattelite radio commercially. There will be another company ( Sirius ) launching service sometime this year. There are multiple ways of adding this service to your vehicle go to www.xm-radio.com for equipment options. What type of radio do you have in your car right now? Do you want to keep it or replace it with something newer?

Mercedes will not go backwards on integrarion to your year. In my repair shop we do a custom modification using the pioneer fm modulation unit we take a pre amp signal directly into the tape section so there is no loss of sound quality . The control panel for the pioneer can go either in the center pocket above the vents if you don't have the factory phone or it can go in the ashtray. This is the cleanest way to do it. If you want pricing on it you will need to call my repair shop @ 858-373-0596 9am to 6pm m>f and ask for Cleeve. Lajollaaudio repair.

Another satisfied customer

I sent my head unit out to Cleeve for the modification so that my XM would not have to use the freq modulator.

Had it back in a few days with the modification completed and a modified cable to plug into the XM unit.

One of my better decisions.

Clean sound from the XM and the modification is invisible.

Thanks Cleeve and Scott

While I don't have any equipment, I do follow the satellite biz pretty closely ... it will be interesting to see if either company's business plan works out ... satellites are expensive and while the direct broadcast concept worked as a replacement for cable and to get coverage to remote locations, I am not so sure about the future of this endeavor.

Just have to wait and see ...

Talking Sirius is serious!

Get it!

I have Sirius satellite radio in my 84 300 CD and love it! I went with Sirius over XM because Sirius has no ads, although XM supposedly has more music stations. I didn't care about that, but if I had to listen to one more used car dealer ad I was going to throw the damn radio out the window.

I'm now divorced from ordinary radio and incessant advertisements. Sirius has NO ads on the music stations (they do on the talk stations, though) and gives me acces to many of the same stations as satellite TV.

I can listen to any music I want, as well as FOX news, Oudoor Life, ESPN, you name it. All for about 12 bucks per month. Considering how much time I spend in my car, I think it's worth it. I rarely switch over to regular radio anymore.

Another thing that's nice is I don't have to listen to that stupid electric antenna going up and down whenever I switch on the radio.

Sirius is coming out with a home antenna soon so you can listen to the same stations on your home stereo also. Pretty kick ass, IMOHO.

Gil
