johnp123 ,
how is your system performing now? How are your 2 subs wired to the amplifier, series or parallel?

How many individual speaker wires are hooked up to your amplifier. If both of your subs are wired together positive to positive and negative to negative and they are bridged across your amplifier's output that would result in a dangerous condition that could both dim your lights and fry your amp. Make sure that one sub is wired to each of your amp channels. I do have a suggestion that may solve your problem but it will require you to purchase a class D subwoofer amp. They are more efficient and therefore require less current to play at the same volume.

Thumbs up Subs in cars.

The best way from my experience to have subs facing in a 300ce which is essentially the same as a 300e is to have them facing the number plate on the back of the car, although people claim that bass isn't like a normal sound wave, it does still need time to expand, if you want the subs to sound as good as they can in a W124 i say put them right up against the fuel tank facing outwards towards the number plate. this way the bass waves will have time to expand and then reflect off the boot lid back towards the front of the car. The only way to make a huge difference is to cut a reasonable sized port in the parcel shelf(Warning though: - If you do this i don't know what it will to to the structural integrity of the car - I don't recommend or condemn this idea.)

This method of facing the sub towards the back of the car has worked for me and I have had 1x sony 12" 1x JBL 12" and 2x MTX 12" subs and they all sound better like that.

Good Luck
